The Races of El-Rah
Elves are a proud race who began their rise in the beginning of the first growth. Although thought of by many of the other races as pompous, Elves hold themselves to a high standard and so look down upon those amongst the other races who do not share this trait with them. Generally Elves have a strong and graceful stride, all elves bare pointed ears that range from slightly larger than a human’s to extending many inches out from their faces. Elves are in tune with nature and often live in closed communities deep within their home forests, however, it has been known form some elves to venture out to find adventure and learn more of the world around them.
Humans are one of the five races that flourished in the beginning of the first growth. They are a versatile race who found themselves quickly becoming proficient in turning their hands to the land to grow crops and farm animals. Humans come in all shapes and sizes ranging from 5 – 7 feet in height over a variety of builds. Humans generally live in small communities and of all the races are the mostly likely to accept the company of other races. Due to their inquisitive natures, humans enjoy many different activities from physical exercises such as swimming and hunting to the studious nature of scholars.
The Fae are a curious races because they were not part of the Gods’ initial design for El-Rah. Hailing from a dimension known only as The Everglade, the Fae originally entered El-Rah though what is known as the “Hypeirion Portal” in an attempt to flee an unknown magical anomaly. Not being true residents of El-Rah, the Fae could stay for only a short period of time before having to return to the Everglade, however, those who stayed for a prolonged period of time found themselves unable to return home making their lives in El-Rah permanent. Fae have pointed ears and wings similar to a butterfly sprouting from their backs. They hold themselves gracefully and get on well with most people in El-Rah.
Dwarves are a strong people, both of body and of mind. They live deep in the mountains and enjoy mining for precious stones and forging metal from the ore that they gather deep in the earth. All dwarves boast thick bushy beards, even the females have at least stubble coving their faces, it is not uncommon for a dwarf to stroke their beard in contemplation when deep in thought. Although they are generally shorter than the average human, there are dwarves who have been known to grow as tall as an average sized person. Tending to live in seclusion, dwarves are most often found in the world as traders or as owners of taverns as most members of their race also have an affinity for brewing.
The Beast-Born of El-Rah are a curious part of the Gods plans as they are the only race that can gift their very existence to other intelligent creatures. One who is willing to become a Beast-Born need simply be “gifted’ by one of the Beast-Born race and the transformation will begin. Every Beast-Born manifests in their own way becoming part intelligent being and part animal, some of the common Beast-Born that are seen in El-Rah are foxes, eagles, wolves and felines. Each Beast-Born has the innate ability to manifest a certain amount of beast to their appearance however every Beast-Born has only one animal that they are linked to. Beast-Born are looked down upon by many of the denizens of El-Rah who see them as impure and even go as far as to say that they are abominations, therefore there are some communities that despise the Beast-Born and refuse them access to their lands.
Many people would tell you that Orcs are a primitive and unintelligent race but this is not true, although most prefer a battle of strength there have also been notabley powerful shamans in the Orcish communities. Although many would call them ugly, this is open to interpretation, Orcs generally boast a powerful figure with varying shades of green or red even sometimes brown colouring their skin, some even sprout tusks from their mouths. Orcs live in warbands and rely heavily on fighting prowess to make their way up the ranks of their warband. Some orcs however travel alone as wandering mercenaries, those who can afford the payroll of an orc sleep soundly knowing that a powerful warrior is protecting them.
